Sire Side

HIGH BROW CAT (High Brow Hickory x Smart Little Kitty, Smart Little Lena)

AQHA All-time leading sire with over $88 million in offspring earnings.

Dam Side

Dually Cat’s dam, SMOKIN DUALLY (Dual Pep x Joses Sunrise, Smokin Jose) has an impressive resume herself, with an equistat LTE of $254,153 and offspring earnings of $436,051! She was born in 1991 in DUAL PEP’s very first foal crop, and is still one of his all time winningest offspring.

Owned by Bobby Pidgeon and shown by Winston Hansma, Smokin Dually won close to $250,000 in the cutting in the mid 1990s. In her later years, she further proved her versatility and talent by adding to her LTE in the reining.

Smokin Dually went on to become an incredible broodmare. She carried foals by some of the most influential studs of this generation including CD Olena, Smart Little Lena, Wimpys Little Step, and of course, Dually Cat’s sire: the great High Brow Cat.

Our story to

The Perfect Addition

In no way were we looking to purchase a stallion, but we could not miss out on this opportunity to own such a proven producer. Tel and I are proud to welcome Dually Cat  to our team! Throughout the years we have ridden and loved many of his offspring so he seemed like the perfect addition to our breeding program.

Tel bought his very first Dually Cat baby, This Cats Got Boots, who we called Bane, from Jesse Crandall back in 2014. He was a great athlete and took to the roping so easily; he won second at the Northlands Rope Horse Futurity as a 4yo. That winter, I took him with me to Arizona and started breakaway roping on him. He was the first horse I did any training on, and man, he made me feel like a horse trainer. He was the best one I’ve ever rode; he could score and run and drag his ass and I absolutely loved him.

That spring, he got sick with a mysterious fungal infection and we tried like hell to get him healthy but the vets never could figure out what exactly was wrong with him or how to fix it. After what seemed like forever fighting the illness, we ended up having to put him down.

The next year, Tel bought me Keeper Lookin (x Caught Me Lookin, Pepinics Master) the mare that Bane was out of. The year after that, he bought me the Dually Cat stud fee. The year after that, on the day that the full sibling to our Bane was born, Tel proposed to me. We called the baby Keeper, and she is definitely that! She is a spitting image of her big bro; white socks, bald face, and those signature Dually Cat freckles. She’ll be three this year and that’s the only way I can remember how long Tel and I have been married lol.

So, Dually Cat already had a pretty special place in our breeding program and/or marriage. That’s why we absolutely could not pass up the chance to own him.
